REO2 – local two-pipe ventilation system with heat recovery
REO2 is a unique two-pipe local ventilation system with heat recovery, which, by means of efficient, economical and silent ventilation of residential and commercial premises, provides users with a fresh and healthy indoor environment free from humidity, bad odors or mold. Due to the efficient and innovative system of heat recovery from the used to the fresh incoming air, low manufacturing costs and long service life, the REO2 system is a promising innovation for wider global markets. Due to the good airtightness of modern new and renovated buildings, the air quality in living spaces is increasingly at risk. Winter is a particularly challenging period, when people are intensively saving money at the expense of air quality. Modern glass, impermeable PVC or aluminum window and door frames, and modern facade insulation have contributed to significant savings in thermal energy, but unfortunately often at the expense of air quality. Only a few energy renovations of apartment blocks and individual houses also include the installation of an efficient ventilation system. If you want to breathe fresh, high-quality and healthy air in such a sealed apartment or house, you have to open the perfectly insulated windows several times a day, and that too on the condition that the outside air is clean enough. So in the colder months, the cold and fresh air needs to be heated several times a day from, say, minus outside to room temperature, which almost completely negates the effect of the building's even good thermal insulation. However, people are frugal and usually do not do this often enough, which can consequently affect the deterioration of their well-being and health.
House dust, numerous bacteria, black mold on walls, radioactive radon gas, exhaled CO2 gas and various respiratory viruses are difficult for people to detect when they are indoors, and as a result, they can cause a variety of respiratory and other diseases during the heating season, especially in children and the elderly. Ventilation is usually solved in two basic ways today, namely with the so-called central ventilation, which is suitable mainly for new buildings due to the complexity of the pipe system installation, and local or decentralized ventilation systems, which are usually intended for each room separately and are most often single-pipe with a heat exchanger in a short wall hole. The disadvantages of single-pipe wall systems are the mixing of clean and dirty air, relatively modest heat utilization of the exhaust air, sound bridge, the possibility of various malfunctions and a not very consumer-friendly price. That's why we have created a unique LOCAL TWO-PIPE VENTILATION SYSTEM WITH RECOVERY, which is designed for efficient and economical ventilation of rooms with recovery.
The main feature of the REO2 system is a unique patented heat exchanger made of non-flammable polystyrene, foil and adhesive, which in one piece represents the housing, air ducts, heat exchanger and sound and thermal insulation of the air during flow.
The REO2 heat exchanger module is extremely light, has no components that could break, and is therefore durable, surface-hardened and finely finished. The system only requires around 1 m2 of space with a thickness of 16 to 19 cm. Usually, a separate REO2 system is installed for each room by drilling two wall openings on the outer wall just below the ceiling, in which pipe fans are inserted, for blowing fresh air and sucking exhaust air from the room. The openings on the wall and on the REO2 heat exchanger are then connected so that the exchanger is glued to the stop in an effectively connected air and heat transfer system. Unlike single-pipe heat recovery systems, where the exhaust air and fresh air are exchanged periodically for approx. 1 min through just one short wall opening, in a two-pipe REO2 system the clean and exhaust air never mix, and the system does not create air underpressure or overpressure in the room. The openings in the wall where the tube fans are located are covered and connected to a heat exchanger, so their operation is barely audible in the room, and there is no disturbing noise from outside. During operation, the inlet and outlet air travel inside the housing through two separate channels, which are separated by a special barrier, which is an excellent heat conductor. Due to the 10 m long air path and the excellent thermal conductivity of the separating barrier, the heat transfer time from the outlet to the inlet air, unlike most single-pipe systems, is long enough to thoroughly utilize the heat of the exhaust air. With its silent operation, the REO2 system permanently provides fresh and warm air in the room, without excess moisture, dangerous black wall mold or unpleasant odors. With always fresh and warm air, the user can also save over 60% on variable heating costs compared to the same amount of room ventilation through a window. Due to its innovative, patented modular construction and extremely lightweight and durable materials, the REO2 system provides the user with the most affordable freshness of living, without servicing or expensive maintenance for several decades. The system is simple, affordable and recommended for installation in already occupied apartments, new buildings, detached houses, office spaces, etc. REO2 works effectively at all temperatures and does not require additional preheating of the system. In the summer months, the ventilation effect is reflected in the fact that in cooled apartments, the outlet air cools the inlet air during ventilation, thus saving energy for cooling. Due to the built-in filters and insect screens, the REO2 system is recommended for use all year round, as mosquitoes, flies and other insects cannot enter the room during ventilation, while pollen and other dust impurities are caught on the filter, which can be simply replaced or washed from time to time. The system, except for the inexpensive tube fans and the control switch, is practically indestructible and durable. The REO2 ventilation system is the result of our own development. Description of the current state of the project:
The product is the fruit of our own idea and is based on our own knowledge and development. The product has been granted patent protection at the Intellectual Property Office of the Republic of Slovenia under No. 25751. A total of more than 20 trial systems have been installed by various users and can already be marketed. In cooperation with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Ljubljana, some more normative harmonizations are being carried out for a possible transition to serial production of various application variants. The company is in the phase of obtaining appropriate technical documentation for placement on the Eco Fund list and some technical solutions for facades. In the future, the acquisition of internationally required certificates will follow, and patent protection in the EU and beyond is also in the process.
