Food security is an urgent economic opportunity
Food security is becoming a key area of European investment, technological development and international cooperation. In addition to ensuring a stable food supply, efficient energy use, water management, the digitalisation of agriculture and more resilient supply chains are also playing an increasingly important role.
These changes will be addressed by the SDBP Business Forum AGRA 2026 , which will take place on August 26, 2026 , as part of the 64th International Agri-Food Fair AGRA in Gornja Radgona. The forum, entitled "Food Security: Slovenia & The Netherlands – Gateway to the Western Balkans and Africa", is organized by the Slovene Dutch Business Platform (SDBP) , and participation will be possible both live and online.
Why is the forum interesting for Slovenian and international companies?
The event connects three rapidly developing business areas.
The first is represented by the Western Balkans , where the process of approaching the European Union opens up new development and infrastructure projects. The second is represented by the Netherlands , one of the leading European countries in the field of high-tech agriculture, water management, greenhouses, logistics and agri-food innovation. The third is represented by Africa, where this year's partner country of the fair is Algeria , which opens up additional opportunities for economic cooperation in African markets.
For Slovenian companies, this means an opportunity to participate in international projects, find new partners, and present their own solutions in rapidly developing markets.
From technology to investments
The forum will be attended by representatives of diplomacy, state institutions, investors and companies, as well as experts in the fields of European enlargement policy, agricultural financing, green investments, circular food systems, artificial intelligence in agriculture, agro-energy and knowledge transfer.
This opens up opportunities primarily for companies operating in the following areas:
- agri-food technologies,
- greenhouses and precision agriculture,
- water management,
- renewable energy sources,
- geothermal energy,
- logistics and food supply chains,
- digital solutions and artificial intelligence,
- food industry and food processing.
The forum aims to connect companies looking for new export markets, development partners, or opportunities to participate in international investment projects.
Networking remains one of the key reasons for participation
In addition to the professional program, the forum allows for direct business networking. Companies can join as partners or sponsors of the event. Partnership packages start at €125, with a 50% discount available for startups.
Packages include company presentation in the official SDBP electronic catalog, promotion at the event and online streaming, and access to business networking using AI-powered solutions. Higher partner packages also include stage presentation, video production, and pre-organized business meetings.
Participation is free for visitors to the fair, but the number of places at the venue is limited.
The event is co-financed by SPIRIT Slovenia, a public agency.
