The 4th Amateur Culture Day at Štrekna once again brings a colorful program and connects!

This year's diverse event will take place on Saturday, May 17, 2025; in case of bad weather, the event will be postponed for one week to May 24, 2025.

In the Mislinjska dolina, the cultural week in recent years has been held with an emphasis on the event , the Day of Amateur Culture in Štrekna, which connected a wide variety of creators of the Mislinjska dolina with the help of the Štrekna cycling path, and actually covered the entire area between Gornji Dolič and Dravogradom. In this way, an important step was taken towards the revival of the route of the former Mislinjska railway line, which has once again become a place of connection and meeting, this time, instead of a train, enlivened by the creativity of amateur culture, which, as we can see time and again, is still very much present in Koroška.

This year, we are already looking forward to the fourth edition of the event, which will also connect us interregionally. The Štrekna cycling route between Dravogradom and Velenje, between the Mislinjska and Šaleška valleys, has finally been fully established, which means that this year, amateur culture will also resonate through the Huda Luknja gorge for the first time.

The events along Štrekna will once again be concentrated and focused on the morning, while in the city center of Slovenj Gradec, various activities will conclude with the national opening of the Amateur Culture Weeks. This year, the heart of the event will also be represented by associations and various creators, who respond to the call in large numbers every year and show again and again how the spirit of volunteerism, the desire for creativity, mutual cooperation and solidarity are strongly anchored in the Slovenian consciousness. This year, the Regional Mobility Center of Koroška is also joining the event, which operates under the auspices of Regionalne razvojne agencije za Koroško and this time, together with the SPVCPs, the Police and municipalities, in addition to co-organizing, will also take care of promoting safe cycling and the development of cycling culture. To ensure that cycling is safe for all participants, representatives of the Association of Auto Mechanics and Drivers of Slovenj Gradec and Mislinja will additionally take care of the safety of all participants at exposed points, such as the crossing over the main road in Dolič.

The event is the result of good cooperation between the Regional Branches of JSKD Slovenj Gradec and Dravograd, which this year are also joined by the Regional Branch of JSKD Velenje, Regionalne razvojne agencije za Koroško, and the municipalities and other institutions involved, thus linking efforts to connect and intensify the cultural pulse of the interregional area on the one hand, and efforts to promote sustainable mobility in the form of cycling on the other.

So, all of us who love amateur culture, cycling, and Štrekna will be hanging out again.
