Koroška has acquired twenty-three regional tourist guides

Last Friday, June 28, 2024, at 6 p.m., the final event of the Training for Regional Tourist Guides of Koroška took place at Bukovje Manor. The entire training took place under the coordination and organizational auspices of RRA Koroške, doo – the Regional Development Agency for Koroška.

Let us remind you: The training consisted of 40 hours of lectures. In addition to the theoretical part, it also included a visit to some attractions and getting to know the providers of tourist services. After the training, there was a leadership simulation with a knowledge test on a full-day trip around the region. In addition to the leadership simulation, the participants also answered the questions in writing and prepared a short seminar paper on an agreed topic.

The training was successfully completed by 23 participants from the entire Koroška region and all three valleys. Given that there is a huge shortage of guides in the region, this is of course promising data. The program was conducted by Dr. Iztok Bončina (Palladio Agency), who is a long-time tourist guide, freelance photographer and photojournalist, professor of art history and history, diver, astronomer and traveler. He said that there is a lot of potential hidden among this team.

At the event, they also prepared a ceremonial awarding of certificates of successful completion of the training. All those present were addressed and welcomed by the director of the RRA Koroška, Uroš Rozman. He gave them some encouraging words and emphasized: "There is a great shortage of guides in our region, so I think it is crucial and very important that we know how to motivate them appropriately so that they will remain in this industry and successfully use this knowledge at the level of regional tourism. In the future, we will definitely try to work even more in a connecting way within the agency and we will also upgrade this type of training."

The event was enlivened with wonderful musical contributions on the guitar by Peter Zajc from the RRA Koroška. The program was coordinated by Anja Vajde. This was followed by a pleasant socializing with refreshments. The participants summarized their impressions of past working gatherings with the desire to meet again and exchange experiences. They had a great time and are also looking forward to using the acquired knowledge in practice and in the field.
