European Mobility Week 2024 in Koroška

This year marks the 23rd edition of the European Mobility Week, a pan-European initiative to change travel habits to more sustainable ones and raise awareness of the importance of sustainable mobility. In Koroška, participating municipalities are also offering a wide range of events between 16 and 22 September , which this year focus on the theme "Comfortable public space - for everyone!".

The Regional Mobility Center Koroška, which operates within the framework of RRA Koroška doo - Regional Development Agency for Koroška, is this year connecting events in our region, where municipalities are once again very active! As RCM Koroška, we will actively participate in events on the ground and report on them through our media channels. We will also share promotional material.

All residents of Koroška municipalities, representatives of local authorities, decision-makers and media representatives are cordially invited to attend the events in as many numbers as possible and thereby jointly support efforts for more sustainable mobility in Koroška.

What is European Mobility Week?

European Mobility Week is a pan-European initiative to change travel habits to more sustainable ones under the auspices of the European Commission to raise awareness of sustainable mobility, promoting a change in behaviour in favour of active mobility, public passenger transport and other smart and clean transport solutions. During the European Mobility Week, local authorities are encouraged to use this time to test innovative measures, introduce new infrastructure for sustainable mobility and new technologies and technological solutions to increase traffic safety and thus contribute to raising the quality of life. In 2024, 114 municipalities in Slovenia have already confirmed their participation, including 10 municipalities from the Koroška region.

About this year's theme: "Comfortable public space - for everyone!"

This year's theme encourages awareness that all users of space, regardless of their mode of mobility, are treated equally. At the same time, we promote more social justice, greater safety, a better quality of life with less noise and less air pollution. A comfortable public space with more greenery and a well-planned and arranged space for socializing, accessibility and comfort for all groups of residents and visitors is the implementation of the principle of sustainable development and at the same time brings many social, health and economic benefits.

The role of the Regional Mobility Center Koroška

RCM Koroška supports and provides assistance to municipalities and local coordinators in the implementation of the European Mobility Week. RCM also provides support to the national coordinator for the European Mobility Week and represents an intermediate link in communication between the national and local levels. As part of the activities of the Regional Mobility Center Koroška, we will also be present at various events that municipalities will implement during the European Mobility Week.
