Štrekna is writing a new chapter in the European success story!

Our cycling route ranked at the very top of Europe in the Active, Slow and Accessible Cultural Tourism category, where it convinced the international professional public with its story, quality of infrastructure, accessibility and exceptional popularity.

On Thursday, September 25, 2026, we witnessed a moment that we will remember for a long time at a gala event in Greece . At the announcement, our colleagues proudly accepted the plaque for Štrekna, who had previously personally presented our exceptional cycling route, its story, and everything that makes Štrekna so special to the European public.

This is not just recognition for the cycling route. It is recognition to the people, ideas, courage, perseverance and vision, and to everyone who co-created Štrekna and helped turn it into one of the most recognizable and popular cycling experiences in our country.

It is also a recognition of the connection of two regions: Koroške and Šaleška doline , which, with a shared vision, cooperation and perseverance, have proven that connecting can create something truly exceptional. It is precisely this connection that has enabled Štrekna to grow into a recognizable and popular tourist product and become a success story that is now recognized by Europe. Special thanks also go to the Šaleška doline Tourist Board for its proactive and good cooperation. We believe that partnership, trust and joint work are what give cooperation the greatest value and, in the end, the most beautiful results.

From a former railway line to a modern, well-maintained and extremely popular cycling path, today it is a story about how quality infrastructure can connect people, places, nature, cultural heritage and development opportunities.
