We hosted a delegation from Ukraine at Koroškem

On Monday, June 1st and Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026, we hosted a delegation from Ukraine at Koroškem, consisting of nine mayors, four deputy mayors, and four heads of various municipal departments. The delegation was also joined by representatives of the Regional Development Agency and the regional government of the Khmelnytsky region. Koroško visited as part of an expert visit entitled Strengthening Municipal Capacity for Local Economic Development.

In the first part of the visit, we presented our mission, vision, key activities and projects at the Regional Development Agency for Koroško . They then learned about the supportive business environment in the region and the MPIK Innovatorium Slovenj Gradec. This was followed by a working lunch with the mayors of the Carinthian municipalities , where they discussed the role of municipalities in promoting local economic development, infrastructure development, project partnerships and the exchange of good practices. The first day's program concluded with a tour of the Baroque Bukovje Castle .

The second day of the meeting was also coordinated by us, when the delegation visited the Municipality of Ravne na Koroškem . There, they were presented with experiences of cross-border cooperation within the framework of the UNESCO Global Geopark Karavanke . We particularly highlighted the Kara Mon project, the main purpose of which is to improve the resilience of the Geopark Karavanke to natural disasters by developing a joint digital network for monitoring, informing and designing measures for the prevention and intervention of natural disasters.

The visit was an opportunity to exchange experiences, present good practices, and strengthen cooperation between local communities and development institutions.
