Areas of operation

Regionalna razvojna agencija za Koroško (RRA Koroška) is the most important link for the development of 12 municipalities in the region. Due to the very important function it performs, it is crucial that it represents the best service to municipalities in the field of regional development, project support, absorption of European funds, networking, improvement of the business environment, development of tourism, sustainable mobility and better spatial planning, which contributes to the greater well-being of the residents of the Koroška region.

It pays special attention to the management of development programs and project support. It implements the Regional Development Program (RDP) and the Regional Development Agreement (RDA), focusing on projects related to post-flood rehabilitation and regional development. RRA Koroška provides expert support to municipalities in the preparation and implementation of projects. We manage LAGs Kozjak-Pohorje and implement projects through the CLLD mechanism, and strengthen cross-border cooperation and inclusion in projects co-financed by Interreg and Horizon Europe.

Regional spatial planning and sustainable mobility play a key role in coordinating the development needs of the region. RRA Koroška prepares regional spatial plans (RPP) in cooperation with the state and municipalities. It develops sustainable mobility, promoting a cycling network and public passenger transport, and manages a regional mobility centre. It participates in the establishment of the Regional Park Pohorje and implements the Alpine Convention as the ninth info point, thereby raising awareness and integrating sustainable principles into regional development.

In the field of entrepreneurial support, the RRA Koroška strengthens the entrepreneurial environment and promotes innovation. It operates a networked business incubator and develops a technology center that will have wider regional significance. It provides young companies with favorable premises and comprehensive support services, and implements a supportive environment for the development of entrepreneurial ideas. We support companies in solving challenges related to financing, international business and human resources development, and connects young people with the economy by including them in a scholarship scheme.

Tourism development maintains Koroška as a leading destination and strengthens destination products such as outdoor tourism, cycling and hiking. Intensifies promotion, introduces digital tools for managing tourist flows and ensures sustainable development in accordance with the principles of sustainable tourism. We are actively acquiring additional sources of financing for the implementation of planned activities. We are participating in the development and promotion of the Drava Cycling Trail, Pohorje and the Karavanke Geopark.

Karavanke UNESCO Global Geopark

RRA Koroška has been involved in cross-border cooperation with neighboring Austria since its inception. We are particularly proud of the fact that from the very beginning we have been actively co-creating the success story of the Karavanke Geopark, which connects 5 municipalities from the Koroška region and 9 municipalities from neighboring South Koroška with the goals of joint sustainable development, has the status of a Global UNESCO Geopark, and today operates institutionally as the European Association for Territorial Cooperation Karavanke Geopark.

Partnership for Pohorje

The Partnership for Pohorje connects 19 municipalities, 5 key players in the tourism offer: Unitur, Marprom, Vabo, Hotel Jakec and Turi, Pohorje tourism and 6 members (RRA Podravje - Maribor, Regional Development Agency for Koroška, Savinja Region Development Agency, RIC Slovenska Bistrica, LTO Rogla - Zreče, GIZ and Maribor Tourism Institute). RRA Podravje - Maribor has taken on the role of partnership coordinator and with its team actively cooperates with all key stakeholders in Pohorje.

Partnership for the Drava Cycling Trail

The purpose of the partnership is primarily to better connect the 20 municipalities along the Drava River in the implementation of the Drava Cycling Path project, navigability and the establishment of a regional park. Through the partnership, we want to strengthen cooperation with other stakeholders (e.g. service providers) and a stronger and more unified approach to state institutions related to the project.
