The right to part-time work (ZSDP-1, Article 50) also applies to parents who pay contributions themselves (i.e. also to self-employed persons).

The right belongs, among others:

  • to one of the parents who cares for and protects the child up to the age of 3,
  • to one parent with two or more children – until the youngest is 8 years old (the amendment extended the duration),
  • one of the parents of a child with a moderate or severe physical disability or mental disorder – until the age of 18.

Conditions:

  • part-time work must be at least 20 hours per week (half-time),
  • The right must be exercised at the CSD no more than 30 days before and no later than 30 days after the start of part-time work.

For an independent entrepreneur, this means in practice:

  • in insurance, for example, it is registered for 20/40 hours,
  • She pays the contributions for these 20 hours herself,
  • The remaining contributions up to full-time working hours are paid by the state (CSD).
