European Mobility Week 2026: Mobility for all generations
This year, Slovenia joins the European Mobility Week , the leading European initiative to promote sustainable mobility and change everyday travel habits, for the 25th time. The campaign will take place between 16 and 22 September 2026 , and this year's central theme remains "Mobility for All!" , with an emphasis on mobility adapted to all generations.
Children, young people, adults and the elderly all have different needs and face different challenges when travelling on their daily journeys. That is why European Mobility Week encourages the development of transport solutions that are safe, accessible, inclusive and usable for all – from safe routes to school, quality connections to education and work, to ensuring independent mobility for the elderly.
Sustainable mobility is important not only from the perspective of environmental protection, but also from the perspective of quality of life and social inclusion. Access to transport affects the possibility of inclusion in education, work, services and social life. Therefore, it is important to offer people efficient, reliable and accessible alternatives to the private car – high-quality public transport, safe conditions for walking and cycling, and flexible forms of transport.
European Mobility Week on Koroškem
This year, municipalities across Slovenia, including many municipalities with Koroške, will join the European Mobility Week. They will prepare various activities to encourage residents to reflect on their travel habits and try sustainable ways of getting around.
The Regional Mobility Centre Koroška , operating within the framework of RRA Koroška , provides support to municipalities and local coordinators in the preparation and implementation of European Mobility Week activities. The centre connects the local and national levels and helps implement solutions that contribute to more sustainable, safe and inclusive mobility in the region.
During European Mobility Week, we will participate in various events in Carinthia municipalities and thereby support efforts to develop sustainable mobility in the region.
Mobility as an opportunity for connection
European Mobility Week is not just a week of events and awareness-raising, but also an opportunity to test solutions that can become a permanent part of the local transport system. Car sharing, carpooling, promoting cycling and improving walking conditions are examples of measures that reduce car dependency and increase accessibility for all residents.
Every journey counts. By choosing a sustainable way of getting around, every individual can contribute to a healthier environment, a higher quality of life, and more connected communities.
