The purpose of the Partnership for Pohorje is the joint development and promotion of Pohorje with a clear vision of its development as a green destination with an established European brand. The goal is, among other things, to preserve natural and cultural features and to encourage harmonious economic and tourist development with an emphasis on the sustainable use of natural resources.

Who is the project intended for:

Legal entities that meet the following conditions can join the Partnership for Pohorje: a) they are a legal entity that has its registered office, registered branch, subsidiary, organizational unit or business unit in the Partnership area, b) they are a legal entity under public law that operates in the Partnership area or c) they are a legal entity under private law in the public interest that operates in the Partnership area.

Inclusion process:

A legal entity wishing to join sends an accession statement to the President of the Partnership.

Project benefits:

The development of the Pohorje destination has a positive impact on the tourism development of the Koroška destination, as the multiplier effects of the development of tourism, its infrastructure and offer are also reflected in our region. The aspect of economic development brought by the increase in tourist visits and related activities is also not to be neglected.

Success stories:

  • The Pohorje Development Strategy is the first strategic document covering a wide range of challenges and supported by 30 partners across the entire Pohorje region. With the preparation of the strategy, an important strategic step has been taken in terms of consensus on the desired future of Pohorje development and priority investments.
  • The strategy for the development and marketing of the Destination Pohorje offer 2021−2027, which includes the overall graphic image (brand) of Pohorje, the Pohorje tourist map and a new umbrella website that includes a comprehensive offer.
  • Marking of more than 420 km of cycling connections.
