In Slovenia, regional spatial planning was introduced with the Spatial Planning Act (ZUreP-2), but it is not yet implemented in practice. The introduction of regional spatial planning at the level of development regions aims to promote the planning of sustainable and rational development based on the uniform use of available spatial data. As part of the preparation of regional spatial plans (RPP), the state (departments) and municipalities must coordinate the concepts of spatial arrangements, and the agreed solutions must be taken into account in further planning and in the implementation of the planned spatial arrangements. At the end of 2021, ZUreP-3 was adopted, which postponed the deadline for the preparation and adoption of regional spatial plans to 2027.

RRA Koroška is participating in one of the parts of the pilotMOP pilot project, which aims to:

• to standardize the method of preparation, content and form of RPP;
• define the timing, staffing and financial conditions for the preparation of the RPP;
• to test the preparation of the RPP from the perspective of the systematic introduction of regional spatial planning as a continuous process.

The results of the pilotMOP project may form the basis for the systematic introduction of regional spatial planning in Slovenia.
